Today in Jedi Training…

Sometimes getting the boys to go outside and burn off some energy takes a little more of a creative push. A few weeks ago, after begging the kids to go outside with me to do something, I was struck by an idea. The boys like Star Wars, I mean really like Star Wars. Zane is a little over four and recite to you all the movies with plots and major characters. You could probably press him for more information, but you wouldn’t have to if you made a mistake about the events in any one of George Lucas’ episodes, he would be there to correct you.

Consequently Jedi Training was born.

Jedi Training consists of getting our outdoor gear on; hats, sunglasses, sun screen, etc and grabbing a few light sabers before heading to large grassy area next to our house.

The first thing they do is some light running. A few relays between the sparsely scattered trees pretty much wipes them out. The sprints are always followed by an epic light saber battle that ensues between some of the giants of the Star Wars universe. Then, if the time is right, we then head to the mailbox to see if anything cool has arrived and head home.

The neighbors have adjusted to having armed knights patrolling our street, and have even taken the time to chat with their community guardians and comment about the young Jedi’s choice of weapon.

Today (yesterday for anyone outside of the pacific time zone) the boys were thrilled to find that the sprinklers are once again active at our little park, and spent a long time battling their watery advances.

I snapped a few pics of their victory:

We went to a farm with lots of playscapes and lots of kids.  Logan and another boy ran right into eachother, we heard a loud crack, logan was down and crying…after a few seconds he was all better, this is the aftermath!
