As most of you already know The Carbonneau’s left our home in Massachusetts Saturday May 5th to move to Arizona. We traveled about 2,600 miles in our new Honda Odyssey with my brother-in-law Kenny and his good friend Dave hauling our “junk” in a 16′ Penske truck close behind. It took 5 days & change to arrive here in Surprise Arizona Thursday May 10th. Our journey went well and was much less scary than we had expected. Partially inspired by my step-sister Melanie we purchased a portable navigation system for the van that made traveling much easier than it would have been with maps alone. We had originally planned on leaving around 9am – noon on Saturday, which got pushed to hopefully leaving by 5pm and eventually praying to leave by 9pm. We did mostly make the 9pm mark. Over the course of the trip we averaged about 500-600 miles per day and kept the time spent in the car down to about 10 hours, I think. Our only real downer on our journey was discovering after leaving one morning that while staying at a Super 8 motel in Amarillo Texas someone had backed into our van and left a dent, a cracked brake light, and a gouge in our bumper. Overall, as much as that may have angered me, if that’s the worst thing that i can report about our trip then so be it. We all made it here safe and with almost all our stuff.

Danielle or I will expand on our journey more later, for now I’ll just post some pics from the road.
