September 2005

Fall has begun! The weather is great, Zane is having a blast collecting “orange” leaves and I can’t wait for Halloween!! Zane is starting to realize what it’s like to have a little brother!! Logan wants to play with all of Zane’s toys and Zane doesn’t like it one bit! He’ll rip the toy out of baby’s hand and say “no mine”. The funny thing is Zane will sometimes give Logan a toy so they can “play” together, but it has to be a toy that Zane wants Logan to have not one Logan picks on his own. It’s so much fun to watch them growing, and watch their relationship forming! They just love being near each other. Zane will lay down with Logan even put his head in Logan’s lap sometimes. Zane will hug Logan for no reason at all and Logan will reach out to grab Zane when they are near each other. In our double stroller Logan sits in the back and is big enough now to reach forward and grab Zane, the other day he grabbed a chunk full of Zane’s hair, Zane just looked back at him with hurt eyes and said “oh baby no”. So I guess the sibling rivalry has already begun.
Logan had a busy month! He cut his first tooth on September 7th, then his second tooth on the 14th and his third on the 26th. He is sitting up without any support and he’s pretty steady, he only falls when he’s reaching for something…it’s a slow motion fall forward. Zane loves it that he can sit up because they actually play a little bit together, usually with the weebles (it’s the safest toy for Logan). Logan is also more mobile, he rolls from one side of the room to the other. He sleeps in his crib now in his room that he shares with Zane. He is eating some cereal with fruit and veggies so far he’s tried carrots, peas, sweet potato, applesauce and pears. The pears seem to be his favorite but he’s not really picky as long as he’s eating. When we eat he just watches us with his mouth wide open. That is why he weighs 20 lbs at 5 months old. We had to give him Zane’s car seat because he outgrew the baby car seat. Logan had his first cold. I thought it was a runny nose from teething but then Zane got it and Logan ended up with a cough for a week. He still has the cough a little but it really didn’t faze him at all the only thing that changed is that he wakes up 1-2 times during the night. Logan is handling his separation from mommy much better lately. Not as much crying and he takes the bottle like a pro he’s even holding his own bottle, he will actually fight you to hold it. On the 23rd my parents watched the boys so J and I could go on our first date since Logan. And he was great for them.
Zane is Zane, that says it all! He’s doing great with his speech he is even singing!! He developed a bizarre fascination with the song “who are you” after watching CSI with daddy over 8 months ago. During the summer I started watching the series while Zane was napping and if it was paused on a scene when he woke up he would look at the TV and say “who are you”!! AMAZING!! I already mentioned that he sings the song in another news but J has a clip of him singing it. J set up a microphone and asked Zane to say a few things and as soon as there was silence he started singing!! When we are in the car he requests it over and over and it just makes him happy to hear it. He will dance get all excited and sometimes scream like a teenage girl from the 60’s that just met the Beatles. He is so cute! I know I’m a mother and I’m meant to brag so…my oh so talented son can also say his ABC’s, he can sing it and he can identify every letter. He can count to 13 sometimes forgetting “4″ but is getting better about remembering “door(4)”. He is getting very excited for Halloween, he is practicing his “boing-boing” and “woo hoo hoo” (he’s going to be Tigger Logan will be Pooh). I’m a little nervous over how Zane is going to react to Halloween because he was afraid of the life-size plastic skeleton and butler at Wal-Mart. You know the ones that are motion activated and sing. He kind of liked the skeleton at first then he would cover his eyes every time we were walking by it, but the butler just freaked him out every time. He was kind of scary, his eyes moved and it really looks like he was looking at you. It didn’t help that when J was trying to show Zane that they are fake and went to touch it his hand fell off. Well that was it for Zane he started crying and kept saying “NO” and wanted mommy to hold him and get out of there. Hopefully he’ll outgrow it…I need a Halloween buddy!
J and I are doing fine we enjoyed our date; we went shopping at the mall without children and out to eat without children!! It was fun to relax for a couple of hours!! We went to the Big E with my parents…I got my fried OREOS….YUM!! And Zane got disappointed that he was too short to go on the Ferris wheel. He just kept pointing saying “My ride”. If any one is wondering why there are no new posed pics of Zane it’s because he is the most stubborn boy in the world and wouldn’t let us take a picture, not even one, not even with mommy begging and make some pretty big promises like a new car when he turns 16. So we are trying again Friday…Hope it works!
Sorry for such a long news! I hope everyone enjoys reading about our fascinating life as much as I enjoy writing about it! Check out Logan’s new posed gallery…He’s getting too big too quick!
