The big event has finally happened….Logan has arrived!!
My last day of work was April 10th and all the girls at work had a mini baby shower for me it was great! The 12 hour days were getting really tough, I was very happy to start my maternity leave! J found out that blockbuster gives dads a 3 week paternity leave so he’ll be home with me until May 9th.
On Wednesday April 13th my doctor called and told me that they would induce me on the 15th because she was going on vacation the following week. Early Thursday morning around 3 am I woke up wondering if I was dreaming that I was having contractions or if I really was…it didn’t take very long to realize I WAS having contractions. I told J and said to him I didn’t know what to do…His response “Just try to get some sleep”. I tried and after about 30 min. I realize sleep wasn’t in my future. I got out of bed and occupied myself with packing, the internet and CSI until 6:30 am when I woke J up and told him to shower so we could drop Zane off at my parents and go to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital around 9:30 am and my contractions that had been every 5 minutes were now more like 15 minutes apart, I thought for sure I overreacted and they were going to send me home. When the nurse checked me I was already 5 cm dilated so they kept me, and after a few laps around the nurses’ station the contractions were back. YEAH!! After many laps, an epidural and breaking my water came Logan. He was born April 14th at 4:04 pm. He weighed 9lbs 9oz and was 22 inches long (that is why I kept complaining how much my ribs hurt!!) Zane was there to welcome his brother he was very curious about him and even gave him a kiss but then he was only interested in Mom’s hospital bed! Every day Zane came to visit the first thing he would say was “baby” and look for Logan. We welcomed Logan home on April 16th. He seems to be fitting in just fine! Zane has already become a protective big brother. The first time J was changing Logan and Logan was crying Zane ran to the couch and climbed up to watch. When he wakes up in the morning or from a nap the first thing he does is say “baby” and search for Logan in all his “hang-outs”. If Logan isn’t in his swing, chair or bassinet he gets worried and searches continuing to ask for “baby” As far as Zane’s speech therapy he is continuing to make huge strides!! We already established one of his new words: BABY…we’re working on LOGAN. He is saying little phrases like “where go” when he’s looking for something. He can sign “more” when he wants more of something and can say “more” when he wants to. Some of his other new words are “nana” for banana “du” for duck “appuh” for apple
“sna” for Snack
